About Berny.

At the age of 12 I fell through a glass door. I ended up needing surgery. I was on crutches and in a wheelchair and had physical therapy for a year and a half. After eight years of having dropfoot I got a leg brace for two years. After this experience, the word exercise felt like a "dirty" word. Many years later I casually joined a gym and was talked into powerlifting (and became pretty good at it!). I was on a US Air Force powerlifting team in Europe as a civilian competing in many meets. I always placed first, second or third and placed second in the Dutch Nationals in 1995.

By overcoming my own physical and emotional issues, I discovered the ability to help others do the same.

I have been a personal trainer for the past 26 years and active in the fitness industry for 31 years.

Above all I have learned that exercise and eating right are the keys to longevity and disease prevention. The key to mobility and being able to function optimally is flexibility.

We all would like to grow old having good health. Having said that, it does require a certain amount of sacrifice - either by investing the money now for prevention or paying later to fix health issues.

Personal Training.

Personal training is just that. Training... designed for that particular person. Simply because everyone is different. Yes, we are all human, but we all have different things that make us tick. Personal training is mind, body and spirit, because they go hand in hand. Everything in life starts with a thought, including the decision to go workout, or hire a personal trainer. Whether your goal is to lose weight or to gain mass, to become stronger and fitter, more flexible or just plain more healthy... or learn to change nutrition. There is a program tailored to your desires and your needs. Not only will you learn how to do things more effectively in the gym, but also why you should do them one particular way versus another.

Prevention through better lifestyle choices, seems like a much smarter option. Well worth it in my opinion. In this western industrialized country with all of its abundance, one must actively seek avenues to keep fitness in place or it will be lost. With the consequence that the body will then deteriorate far faster than mother nature intended.

It is never too late to start. As long as we are alive, we can make changes.

Change your mind and you can change your body!
